PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID
training courses
We all know that children need special care and skills to ensure their safety. Anyone who is involved in working with children should have a clear understanding of pediatric first aid, whether you are a teaching assistant, a childminder or a new parent, our 2-day courses are ideal for you. Our courses are created to meet the strict guidelines stated by Ofsted, encompassing aspects such as CPR, the recovery position, and choking. This course delivers a 360 approach to first aid for children and infants.
LEVEL 3 – EMERGENCY PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID
This training course is a one-day accredited course. It is ideal for parents or anyone involved with children. AFW Training provides you with the skills to help a child in an emergency situation covering:
• The roles & responsibilities of an emergency pediatric first aider
• Recovery position
• Wounds & bleeding
• Assessing and emergency situation
• CPR
• Shock
• Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child
• Choking
• Accident recording
The assessment is structured to incorporate ongoing observations for the practical elements and a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.
The certificate is valid for 3 years, although it is recommended that a refresher session is carried out between re-certification
LEVEL 3 – PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID
This 2-day accredited course meets the Ofsted requirements for those who work with children and require a first aid qualification. This course covers all areas a mentioned for Level 3 – Emergency Paediatric First Aid course with the following additions:
• Head & spinal injuries
• Asthma
• Burns and scalds
• Eye, ear & nose conditions
• Minor injuries
• Fractures, dislocations & allergic reactions
• Diabetic emergencies
• Electric shock
• Bites & Stings
• Meningitis
• Poisoning
• Sickle cell crisis
• Treatment for hot and cold temperatures
The assessment consists of ongoing observations of the practical elements and a multiple choice question paper at the end of each day of the course. The certificate holds a validity of 3 years, although it is recommended that a refresher session is carried out between re-certification.
